what's the hold up?

I know. It's taking me forever to show the finished corselet. The loose ends have been tied, but I refuse to put it on until I buy a pair of stockings to wear with it. Otherwise I know it will ride up over my hips and look sloppy. So stockings are the hold up.

In the meantime, here is a picture of my most recent embroidery project.

This was what I worked on during my recent travels. I've had problems in the past with the satin stitch and the chain stitch. The way to solve that was to do satin and chain stitching. No need to avoid them any more.

  1. That is extremely beautiful - is it a church piece, or for your own enjoyment? Sarah and I are off to Lincolnshire tomorrow for a Medieval churches festival, so I'll send you any pics of good embroidered altar-cloths etc that we find. All the best!

  4. Hey Jonathon! I'm so envious, a medieval church festival! This was church inspired, just for my own enjoyment.

Thanks corvustristis and squelchbaker! My stitching has improved dramatically. The satin stitches were always uneven at the edges and would have random loose threads, and the chain stitches always got progressively tighter. I'm not sure what I'm doing differently, maybe just more experience in general has helped. And yes, the cross is a wide chain stitch that I made wider as it reached outward. It worked well!

  6. Thanks Cao! How nice of you to say.

My sister said the best thing about embroidery that I used as my embroidery mantra. You don't even have to try to get better, that will just happen as you do it.
