I'm embarking on another cross country road trip in a few weeks. If anyone knows of any foundation garment related stops worth making along the way please pass them on to me. I can't promise they will fall along my travel route, but if they do I'll visit and report on them. Great collections large or small, old stocking factories, or corset makers who should be interviewed? Leave a comment here or send me an email, but do let me know!
Jo, I know that my employer has a few lovely old stays in our collection (buried away, but possibly able to be viewed on request) and several corset nerds who wear them daily... Conner Prairie (Interactive History Park, formerly living history museum) just north of Indianapolis in lovely Fishers, Indiana. and Conner Prairie is a GREAT place to visit when passing through (or living here).
I'm sewing my way through every corset pattern in Norah Waugh's book, Corsets and Crinolines. When I complete this challenge I hope to be able to say, "yeah, I can sew," and "yeah, I know a bit about corsets." Here's how the project began, and here are the ground rules.

Maybe Kent State has something in their collection? ;D
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip!
