titanic sew along


I've been receiving many requests for information about the teens corset I made, and with events marking the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic scheduled next year, I thought it might be a perfect time for a sew along.


I need to make the 1911 pattern form Corsets and Crinolines at some point, why not as the first corset for next year? Those who don't have access to Norah Waugh's pattern can use the one I drafted for the corset above. If I organize a schedule now the corset(s) should be completed in plenty of time to wear to commemorative events. Thoughts?

    Great plan! This is a corset that I need to make all of those early 20th C. designs I have in mind... but no corset = no gown!

    I'm so glad to see there is interest! I think I've started a sew along!

    Jessica, this will be a good corset for beginners. I found the reproduction I made to be one of the most straight forward patterns to make and I'll be using the same construction technique on this one. I'll go through the entire process from enlarging and fitting through inserting hardware and finishing.

    This would be wonderful!!! I started a Victorian corset on Foundations Revealed "class" for first timers, but I think a sew-along would be so much more fun and interactive! I think I'll put that corset aside for the Titanic corset. Can't wait!

    How timely! I was just getting ready to make this for myself, using your excellent pattern-diagram as my starting-point. (Significant alteration for embonpoint is needed...) Inside tips on construction methods will save me having to guess. Thank you!
